Gadgets - The Final Frontier

In the past exporers have been travelling the planet to find what's out there. Today that's impossible. Modern explorers have turned to technology.

I love gadgets and technology. I love that you can make your life easier thanks to technology. I love that I can be anywhere in Europe and keep in touch with my email. I love that I can snap a picture and send it to the other side of the planet, within minutes.

Gadgets are cool - it's a fact. I should probably mention that nobody has paid me to write about these gadgets, nor have they been given to me. I pay for them, I write about them.
Hope you enjoy.

Humax PVR-9200T Freeview HDD Recorder

I don't know why I've been putting writing this article off for so long. I guess I was disappointed in the DigiFusion box that crashed and burned, and then I didn't get well along with the user interface. I thought that it would get better with time... but did it.? More >>

Typical Dell, but smaller

Choosing a laptop is always a bit of a chore. Not only does the market move so quickly that anything you knew 6 months ago is now just rubbish. You also have to factor in your criteria’s, what you want, and what you don’t want. If money is no object a smart Sony would be ideal. But at half price, the Dell machines seem very tempting. More >>

Samsung YP-U2 MP3 Player

It has taken me a long time to find a need to buy an MP3 player. Many times have I, as a gadgeteer, wanted one, but I could never justify the price/feature/need ratios. Now when I’ve started commuting on the train and the features have gone up as the prices has dropped it was time to get one. The ultra compact Samsung YP-U2 seemed to have the features that suited me perfectly. More >>

Timbuk2 Detour bag

The last time I spent money on a bag/backpack to use for work and leisure was over 4 years ago. As I started commuting on the train again, I thought it was time for something new. My friends recommended the Timbuk2 products, so I had a look, and I bought one. But is it worth it? More >>

Nintendo DS Handheld console

I'm not much of a gamer, or should that be g4m0r, but I do enjoy a leisurely jaunt on a game once in a while. Especially if I can play a game in a bit more social conditions. The Nintendo DS is perfect for these quick games or a bit of a social fun. More >>

Less is More; Casio Exilim

Sometimes I'm a complete anti-gadgeteer and I quite enjoy it. I think that my attitude towards the diddy Exilim is one of those situations. I wanted a small camera that takes pictures. I found it in the Exilim. More >>

Cleaning Roomba

It took me a while to realize how important it was to keep cleaning our robotic vacuum cleaner. There's a lot of delicate moving parts, couple that with a girlfriend with very long hair. Cleaning time! More >>

Freeview Personal Video Recorder

I remember our first VCR, especially trying to schedule a recording. I remember the annoyance of rewinding and fast forwarding to find your taped programme. I'm very glad those days are gone thanks to the Personal Video Recorder, a.k.a PVR. Recording your favourite TV programs couldn't be easier. More >>

Electric Violin

We live in a mid terraced house, and sharing a wall with your neighbours means that noise is a consideration. Being the considerate person that I am, I recently purchased an electric violin….. More >>

Owning a Nintendo DS

This is the first games console of any description that I have ever owned. I have, of course, spent numerous hours playing games on friends’ consoles. But I have never become a hardcore gamer. I play games infrequently, but when I do play, I play to relax (Jocke may disagree here!). I hope this article gives a different perspective to your stereotypical games console review. More >>

DVD Rental by Post

Since the 80's we've been able to rent movies in local shops. This concept is familiar and safe to us. The new thing is to rent your DVDs via post, but how does this work - I've had a look. More >>

Garmin eTrex Legend C

We love our robotic vacuum cleaner

A robotic vacuum cleaner sounds quite ludicrous at first. I bet people thought of washing machines as ludicrous at first too. However, we wouldn't live without our Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner anymore. More >>
